PITFALLS

More than 300 million people in our world speak Arabic. Developing campaigns and communication materials for the Middle East is a formidable task, requiring specialist knowledge.
Quite apart from the very real danger of offending cultural and religious sensibilities, transposing creative concepts from one language to another is always problematic. Many pitfalls await the unwary.
These few examples are some of many published in "Arabic for Designers" highlighting typographical, religious, creative and cultural errors and, in some cases, sheer ignorance. They clearly illustrate some of the hazards and demonstrate just how easily costly mistakes can be made and creative concepts destroyed.
Please note that the examples and comments presented here are purely factual.
